Highlights of this year's Show

Another good day. David our  Secretary reported 101 show entries this year.

The day started  at 8am with the tables being  laid out. All  my information boards were put up and also our full roller  banners.

Dave was our Show Secretary this year as Anne Taylor has left. The judges roles were left to our Chairman Manny and Roger our Dahlia man and David our secretary judged our edibles and home produce this year with his wife Yvonne. Alison our last years judge was away this year so could not attend.

I would like to  give a special  mention to Yvonne, David's wife and Keith Hartnell for helping the judges with their  score keeping. A big well done also to Maggie and Philip Billing who looked after  our raffle very ablely this year.

I would  like to  thank  the Mayor Tony Locke and his wife and invited  guests for their support on the day  and the Mayor for presenting our silverware.  I have taken a lot of pictures and you can see them below.

And finally a big cheer to all our allotment members who did their best, under difficult growing conditions this year, who entered into the spirit.

Some News Update

I have been told that due to the expense of medals and trophies, I have been advised that as we have a limited budget and no  other local club offers such rewards that the money would be better used elsewhere i.e booking speakers for the club social  evenings or other member discounted events.

So I have made the decision to  buy  them  myself. They are not the Glass one's  from last year in  style, but a much cheaper plastic metal option with the plinth plate being greatly changed to what the laser etched full print was last year. They have arrived and can be view on the Trophy night page. Do not worry they are very inexpensive, so no big shakes.

I know  that Manny and David will present them at the AGM on the 1st October at Johnson Park after the yearly meeting. We will have a little photo opportunity as well.

New

The individual category  winners medals will also be presented at the AGM as well. A massive well  done to  everyone who entered  into the spirit and made the day special.

Also the new award for 2027,  the Allotment Plate Salver has been ordered and can be viewed and seen on our website on the Trophy Night Page and will be on show at the AGM this year on 1st October 2026
